why i haven't updated in awhile....

i have nothing interesting to talk about. i have been having a lovely vacation. i cleaned the house thoroughly for the first time in too long, mowed the lawn, went through old clothes, etc. i spent time with my husband and good friends. and of course, i spent many hours reading books that have no scholarly merit whatsoever. it was wonderful.

this dream land comes to an end tomorrow. i'm nervous about my first day of real work. this is the first job i've had that didn't come with a predetermined end date. but, as corny as it sounds, i'm excited, too. this is what all the school has been leading up to. now i can finally DO something. i realize that at first i'll be doing very menial tasks, but that's fine by me. such things help to lay a foundation for understanding the complex, interesting things. it's staggering to think of all of the things i need to learn before i can even begin to think about becoming competent in the field. nothing good is easy (well, that's not entirely true but that's a story for another post).
