her dreams went out the door when she turned 24*
i think it's difficult for people not in law school to understand what happens when you go. it consumes your entire life. you are no longer a person; you are a law student. it can easily take over everything in your life. you spend all your time doing homework, reading, writing, etc. you don't see your friends. you don't go places. you don't do anything fun. and then people wonder why so many recent graduates can't adapt to life in a firm. we don't remember how to have a life anymore.
it's crunch time. only a month of classes (and a week and a half of finals) left. i can almost see the light at the end of the tunnel. the problem is that there is a very large black mass (that's what i imagine my "drafty" seminar paper as) standing in the way. i just hope that when i do reach that light, there is something there other than the edge of a very tall cliff. right now all i can tell that will happen after graduation is that all of my law school friends will be leaving. they all have hopes and dreams and goals to pursue. it sounds like another friend will be leaving me (again) around graduation time too. suddenly i'm not looking forward to graduation nearly as much as i thought i would.
(*the title comes from the song "1985" by Bowling for Soup)
