how studying for the bar is different from studying for law school

1) for the bar, stuff makes sense. con law suddenly makes sense. it's just a matter of remembering it. they give you this lovely outline that makes thing seem so very easy. it's a beautiful thing.

2) theory doesn't matter. (YAY!)

3) more stuff. it's like combining the whole first year plus other topics all into one test. so much to remember. more topics to learn but less depth.

4) you have help. bar/bri has worked out this system that seems to help so all you have to do is follow their advice and work hard at it.

5) all you have to do is pass. barely passing will get you just as far as kicking ass.

6) the bar actually matters. no passing = no job. that's a good motivator

7) all of your friends are studying the same stuff. it's a lot easier to commiserate with each other when everyone is slaving over the same material

8) longer time for studying. it's like finals for 2 months. after month one, i'm starting to get burnt out.

9) understanding from friends and family is lacking. "i thought you already graduated. why are you still studying?"

10) you only have to know the broad overview of the topics, not the pointless variations that don't really matter. they can only test on the settled points of law (otherwise people would challenge the answers) so the retarded stuff that makes it difficult is gone.
